BACKGROUND:
The Department of Public Utilities performs sewer structure and mainline pipe cleaning to maintain the sanitary sewer system. Public Utilities currently has three combination sewer cleaner vac trucks, each of a different size and capacity. This equipment purchase replaces the current small capacity combination sewer cleaner vac and will continue to provide versatility in completing sewer cleaning tasks.
Advertisement for bids for the Combination Sewer Cleaner Vac Truck Purchase 2024 - Utilities Department was published in the Labor Record on Thursday, August 22, 2024. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., two (2) sealed bids were opened for the Combination Sewer Cleaner Vac Truck Purchase 2024 - Utilities Department. The bid summary is as follows:

Engineer’s Estimate $450,000.00
The bid from Standard Equipment Company, in the amount of $357,730.00, is 20.50% below the engineer’s estimate and includes proper completion of all bid documents. Standard Equipment Co. Inc. has provided sewer cleaner vac truck equipment and worked with the City on sewer equipment in the past and we are confident they will provide the equipment specified in the contract documents. Sufficient funds exist utilizing the Water & Sewer Improvement Fund / Sanitary Sewer (Org 50180020, Object 557500, $357,730.00).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council Award the Contract for the Combination Sewer Cleaner Vac Truck Purchase 2024 - Utilities Department, in the amount of $357,730.00, to Standard Equipment Co. Inc.
