Approve Emergency Repairs to the Well 23D to Great Lakes Water Resources Group in the amount of $117,195.00
end
BACKGROUND:
Well 23D, originally installed in 2005 and last serviced in 2019 by Great Lakes Water Resources Group, failed unexpectedly. Since multiple wells in the same zone were already out of service for repairs, an emergency bid to remove and inspect the equipment was prepared by City staff and distributed to Layne Christensen Company Inc., Water Well Solutions Illinois LLC, and Great Lakes Water Resources Group. Great Lakes Water Resources Group was the low bidder at a price of $15,445.00. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Great Lakes Water Resources Group successfully removed the pumping equipment and inspected it determining the cause of the outage was catastrophic pump failure. City Staff requested Great Lakes Water Resources Group prepare a proposal to return the well to service. Great Lakes Water Resources Group submitted a quote in the amount of $117,195.00 to complete the following tasks: service the motor, provide a new pump, bail the well for 48 hours, cut and rethread pipe as needed, reinstall the pumping equipment, and provide three (3) new pipe couplings. The price submitted by Great Lakes Water Resources Group is consistent with recent bids.
Funds will be charged to the 2024 Water and Sewer Improvement Fund / Water Supply / Construction (Org 50180011, Object 557200, $117,195.00).
