Resolution Accepting Grant of Easements for the Hickory Creek East and West Park 2024 Water Main Improvement Projects
end
BACKGROUND:
On January 5, 2021, the Mayor and City Council approved Resolution No. 7613, committing to water conservation through the reduction of non-revenue water in order to comply with the allocation requirements of the Level of Lake Michigan Act, 615 ILCS 50, and the corresponding state regulations. A condition of the City’s Lake Michigan water allocation permit is completion of the City’s Non-Revenue Water Reduction Plan. A major component of this Plan is water main replacement. Hickory Creek East and West Park Water Main Improvement Projects are part of the 2024 Water Main Improvement Program. Permanent utility easements are required on Joliet Park District properties to construct these projects. The work is scheduled to be constructed in 2024. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
City staff negotiated a permanent utility easement agreement with the Joliet Park District. The attached easement agreement with the Joliet Park District will provide the needed access rights for construction and future maintenance of the Hickory Creek East and West Park Water Main Improvement Projects. In lieu of payment for the easements, one water service connection fee will be waived for water service at the Park District’s Wedgewood Golf Course.
