Application for a Drive Thru Permit for a Taco Pros Restaurant at 2565 Plainfield Road

BACKGROUND:
On April 4, 2024, the Department of Public Works received a formal request for a drive thru facility for a proposed Taco Pros Restaurant to be located at 2565 Plainfield Road. The restaurant will be within a proposed Speed Trek facility on the vacant property located on the north end of the Millennium Square Subdivision on Plainfield Road. The drive thru lane shall support a queuing of approximately 8 cars. The City’s Planning Division has reviewed the preliminary site plan and has no remaining outstanding items. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
The applicant has submitted a site plan to the Department of Public Works showing the operation of the proposed drive thru. The applicant has provided signage and pavement markings for adequate traffic flow into the drive thru while maintaining sufficient drive thru storage capacity to meet the requirements of the Department of Public Works.
As required by the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances, the Department of Public Works has reviewed the drive thru facility site plan (see attachment). The access to the property from Plainfield Road shall utilize one full access driveway and one right-in-only driveway. Upon final investigation, the Department of Public Works has determined that there is sufficient storage on the site, and therefore recommends approval of the drive thru permit subject to approval of the final engineering plans.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the Drive Thru Permit for a Taco Pros Restaurant at 2565 Plainfield Road subject to the approval of the final engineering plans.
