end
BACKGROUND:
The manhole that collects the sanitary service for the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant’s chemical laboratory is deteriorating from H2S corrosion and will likely fail soon if not rehabilitated. It is recommended that the manhole structure be replaced with a new reinforced concrete structure and coated with an epoxy coating to prevent future corrosion of the structure.
Due to the urgency to make the repair, a request for quotes was prepared and sent to select contractors on March 13, 2024. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
On Friday, March 22, 2023, at 4:00 pm, three (3) sealed bids were received for the Manhole Replacement at the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant. The bid summary is as follows:
CONTRACTOR BID AMOUNT
Performance Construction & Engineering LLC $69,890.00
Austin Tyler Construction, Inc. $80,270.00
Airy’s Inc. $106,500.00
Engineer’s Estimate $75,000.00
The low bid from Performance Construction & Engineering LLC, in the amount of $69,890.00, is 7% below the engineer’s estimate. Performance Construction & Engineering LLC has previously satisfactorily completed similar work for the City.
Funds will be charged to the Water & Sewer Improvement Fund / Projects / Construction (Org 50180802, Object 557200, $69,890.00).
