Resolution Authorizing Execution of a Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Joliet and Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness

BACKGROUND:
Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness has provided services to individuals under 18 that the Joliet Police Department refers to them. These services include 24-hour crisis intervention, individual, family, and group counseling, independent living skills training and/or advocacy services. The intent of Aunt Martha’s services is to divert youth from the Juvenile Justice System and/or the Child Welfare System.
Aunt Martha’s relies on grant funding to operate. To renew their grant, the City of Joliet and Aunt Martha’s must enter into a new Memorandum of Understanding. This item was reviewed at the Public Safety Committee Meeting held on May 7, 2024, and recommended to the full Council for approval.

The Administration recommends the Mayor and the City Council approve the attached Resolution that Authorizes the Chief of Police to enter a MOU with Aunt Martha’s.
