Award of Contract for the 2024 Native Landscaping Maintenance and Restoration Program to Tallgrass Restoration LLC in the amount of $30,130.00

BACKGROUND:
The City of Joliet Department of Public Utilities owns and maintains eight (8) native landscaping sites across the City. These sites include rain gardens, bioretention basins, and streambank stabilizations. In order for these sites to function properly, they need to be maintained by qualified ecological professionals. Services to be provided include invasive species control, mowing and controlled burns. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
A request for proposals was posted on the City’s website and distributed to four firms known to be qualified to complete this work. One proposal was received. A summary is provided below:

The bid from Tallgrass Restoration LLC, in the amount of $30,130.00, is 2% above the engineer’s estimate. Tallgrass Restoration has satisfactorily completed similar work for other communities and meets all of the required qualifications.
Sufficient funds are budgeted in the Water and Sewer Operating Fund and costs will be allocated to the various Contract Services accounts as follows:

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the 2024 Native Landscaping Maintenance and Restoration Program, in the amount of $30,130.00, on behalf of Tallgrass Restoration LLC.
