Resolution Approving an Additional License Agreement with the Forest Preserve District of Will County (Isle A La Cache Preserve) for the Alternative Water Source Program
end

BACKGROUND:
The City is working with five other communities to design and construct a pipeline to provide Lake Michigan water to the region. In order to facilitate the design of a portion of the new pipeline, it is necessary to obtain soil borings and install groundwater monitoring wells in the Isle A La Cache Preserve owned by the Forest Preserve District of Will County (District). In 2023, the City and the District entered into two agreements between the City of Joliet and the District to authorize two soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells: an Intergovernmental Agreement for the Installation of Groundwater Monitoring Wells at the Isle A La Cache Preserve and a License Agreement for the Installation of Groundwater Monitoring Wells at Isle A La Cache Preserve.

It has been determined that it is necessary to complete an additional soil boring and install an additional groundwater monitoring well at Isle A La Cache Preserve. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.

CONCLUSION:
The City and the District have negotiated terms of another license agreement to authorize the additional soil boring and groundwater monitoring well, on substantially the same terms as the original License Agreement, and payment of a license fee by the City to the District in the amount of $3,486.14.

Funds will be charged to the Alternative Water Source Program - Regional Water Commission Fund (Org 53180000, Object 557100, $3,486.14).
