Resolution Authorizing Execution of a Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Joliet and the Joliet Junior College Police Department

BACKGROUND:
Joliet Junior College (JJC) maintains a police department to enforce ordinances and state law and is located within the corporate limits of the City of Joliet. JJC is requesting and the City of Joliet is willing to handle 911 calls on JJC’s campus between the hours of 2 am and 6 am. This additional demand on the Joliet Police Department should not overly burden them as JJC had only six calls for service between 2 am and 6 am during the past 3 years.

The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Council pass a Resolution to allow for the Chief of Police to enter into a MOU with JJC.
