Purchase of three (3) F550 Chassis for Roadways for $211,269.00

BACKGROUND:
As part of the ongoing Citywide vehicle replacement plan, the Department of Public Works budgeted to obtain three (3) 1-Ton dump trucks for the Roadways in 2023. Due to ongoing supply chain issues, there has been limited ability to obtain the F550 chassis, which these units sit upon. Once obtained, the chassis will be upfit with the appropriate items to complete the build. The Public Service Committee will review this matter at the June 17, 2024 Public Service Meeting.
CONCLUSION:
Local dealers that the City has on-going relationships with were contacted and polled for their availability and ability to order the requested units. Rod Baker Ford, D'Orazio Ford, Ron Tirapelli Ford Inc., Sutton Ford, Castle Ford, Zeigler Ford, Hawk Auto Group, and Willowbrook Ford were contacted for the availability of the above vehicles. The results are listed below:
* $211,269.00 - Tirapelli Ford (vehicles are available now)
* $225,423.00 - D'Orazio Ford (vehicles would be ordered with no firm delivery date)
* No Quote - Rod Baker Ford and Hawk Auto responded that vehicles could be ordered but did not provide quotes.
* No Response - Castle Ford, Sutton Ford, Willowbrook Ford, Ziegler Ford
Sufficient funds are available for this purchase request in the Public Works Vehicle Replacement Fund / Furnishings and Equipment (Org 30190000, Object 557500, $211,269.00).
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances states that purchases over $25,000.00 may be awarded without written specifications or bidding under certain circumstances. One of these circumstances applies:
