Application for a Drive Thru Permit for a Jimmy John’s Restaurant at 7801 Caton Farm Road

BACKGROUND:
On May 30, 2024, the Department of Public Works received a formal request for a drive thru facility for a proposed Jimmy John’s Restaurant to be located at 7801 Caton Farm Road. The restaurant will be located within the existing Gas N Wash facility on the northeast corner of Caton Farm Road and Ridge Road. This request replaces a previously issued permit for a TaCanijo Restaurant at the same location that was never opened. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
The applicant has an approved development that is currently active. The operation of the proposed Jimmy John’s drive thru is consistent with the previously issued drive thru permit. The applicant has provided signage and pavement markings for adequate traffic flow into the drive thru while maintaining sufficient drive thru storage capacity to meet the requirements of the Department of Public Works.
As required by the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances, the Department of Public Works has reviewed the drive thru facility site plan (see attachment). Access to the site will be available from three existing driveways. Two full access driveways exist on Caton Farm Road and one right-in / right-out access exists on Ridge Road. Upon final investigation, the Department of Public Works has determined that there is sufficient storage on the site, and therefore recommends approval of the drive thru permit subject to approval of the final engineering plans.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the Drive Thru Permit for a Jimmy John’s Restaurant at 7801 Caton Farm Road.
