Ordinance Amending the 2024 City of Joliet Annual Budget for the Entryway Bed Landscaping Improvement Project, the Award of Contracts, and the Purchase of Material

BACKGROUND:
The City of Joliet is in the process of completing a beautification project throughout the entire City. These projects are in response to many citizens urging enhancements to Joliet's appearance. The initial focus will be on improving the City's entryways before expanding beautification efforts to other areas.
The Mayor and City Council previously approved the 2024 City of Joliet Budget, and it contains a line item for Entryway Bed Landscaping. Bids for this project came in higher than anticipated. The Department of Public Works is requesting a budget amendment in the amount of $250,000.00 to cover the award of a contract for Entryway Bed Landscaping, approval of an award of a contract, and authority to purchase planting material. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
On June 6, 2024, at 10:00 A.M., two (2) sealed bids were received for the Entryway Bed Landscaping Project. The bid summary is as follows:

Funds will be charged to the Capital Improvements / Forestry / Land Improvements Fund (Org 30090060, Object 557400, $350,000.00), Mayor & City Council / Miscellaneous Expense Fund Org 00204000, Object 548000, $100,000.00), and Roadways / Contractual Services Fund (Org 09029000, Object 524200, $34,195.00).
As this expenditure was not fully funded in the original 2024 City of Joliet Budget, a Budget Amendment Ordinance, in the amount of $250,000.00, is attached for approval.
