end
BACKGROUND:
In 2019, the Public Utilities department implemented VUEWorks as their official asset management system. This comprehensive system tracks spatial and non-spatial assets, manages service requests and handles work orders. Since it’s implementation, VUEWorks has experienced exponential growth, extending its usage to other departments such as Public Works, Information Technology, Community Development and Police Department. The city’s popular citizen request portal and mobile app, CitizenVUE, are also supported by and integrated with VUEWorks.
CONCLUSION:
Payment of the annual hosting, maintenance, and technical support fees is necessary to maintain use of this critical software system to manage the assets of the City of Joliet and to respond to issues reported by residents.
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinance states that purchases over $25,000 may be awarded without written specifications under certain circumstances. Two (2) of these circumstances apply:
(f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the mayor and city council;
(g) Purchases of professional services.
Sufficient funds exist utilizing the IT Contractual Services Budget (Org 04001000, object 524200, $70,000.00).
