BACKGROUND:
In advance of the proposed 2024 Streetscape Improvements on Chicago Street, stabilization work was completed on existing sidewalk vaults to ensure safe pedestrian access to businesses during mainline construction activities. The initial vault locations at 102 N. Chicago, 175 N. Chicago, and 2 Clinton Streets were awarded to Lindblad Const Co of Joliet Inc. on January 2, 2024, in the amount of $1,855,941.00. Subsequently, change orders 1 and 2 have been approved. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
This project has been completed, inspected, and accepted by the Department of Public Works.
Change Order No. 3, a net decrease in the amount of ($145,019.40) for the following;
1) Removal of the brick pavers and curb to create additional access to the library parking lot.
2) Installation of fiber conduit under walk to preserve pedestrian access during future construction.
3) Balancing of completed items.
Funds will be reimbursed to Engineering Capital Improvement Funds / Infrastructure (Org 30090270, Object: 557200, ($145,019.40)).
Also included is Payment Request No. 5 and Final, in the amount of $167,007.18, on behalf of Lindblad Const Co. of Joliet Inc.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council take the following actions:
1) Approve Change Order No. 3 for the Sidewalk Vault Improvements - 102 N. Chicago, 175 N. Chicago, and 2 Clinton Streets, a net reduction in the amount of ($145,019.40).
2) Approve Payment Request No. 5 and Final, in the amount of $167,007.18, on behalf of Lindblad Const Co. of Joliet Inc.
