BACKGROUND:
Electrical materials need to be purchased to repair streetlight and traffic signal outages throughout the City of Joliet. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
A Request for Quotes for various electrical materials was sent to three (3) electrical material distributors. The Quotation Summary is as follows:

The low quote by Helsel & Jepperson Electrical Co., in the amount of $55,437.50, is 10.33% below the engineer’s estimate.
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinance states that purchases over $25,000.00 may be awarded without written specifications under certain circumstances. Two (2) of these circumstances apply:
(c) Purchases of equipment which, by reason of training of City personnel or an inventory of replacement parts maintained by the City, are compatible with the existing equipment owned by the City;
(f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the Mayor and City Council.
Sufficient funds exist utilizing the Public Works General Fund - Electrical / Supplies - Equip Parts (Org 09028000, Object 536104, $55,437.50).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council award a contract for the purchase of electrical replacement materials, in the amount of $55,437.50, on behalf of Helsel & Jepperson Electrical Co.
