BACKGROUND:
In 2014, the City adopted Barracuda Cloud Archiving Service to handle increasing email archiving demands due to FOIA requests, litigation holds, and legal discovery needs. Barracuda has since provided efficient access to archived emails, supporting staff in responding to these requests.

Additionally, Barracuda's Cloud-to-Cloud Backup Service has safeguarded the City's Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring data continuity and mitigating the risk of data loss.

Starting in 2025, the City will add Impersonation Protection to our suite of products. This new feature will enhance email security by detecting and blocking phishing and Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks that impersonate trusted figures within the City.

The City relies on Barracuda solutions for email archiving, data protection within Microsoft 365, and responding to various email-related requests. With staff trained to independently access archived emails, the need for IT support is minimized.

The addition of Impersonation Protection in 2025 will further strengthen email security.
