Ordinance Amending the 2025 Annual Budget for the Phase I Engineering Study for US Route 6 (Houbolt Road - I-55) in the amount of $602,667.00
end
BACKGROUND:
In 2022 the City entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the County of Will and the Village of Channahon to split the costs of a Phase I Engineering Study for US Route 6 (Houbolt Road - I-55). A budget amendment was also approved for $602,667.00, which is the City’s share of the cost of the study.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Although funds were allocated and set aside by the City Council in 2022, those funds were not spent at that time as the start of the study was delayed. Further, this funding allocation was not explicitly shown in subsequent budgets.
A request was recently made for a portion of these funds as the study is now moving forward. It will be necessary to complete a budget amendment to fund this request. An Ordinance Amending the 2025 Annual Budget for the City of Joliet in the amount of $602,667.00 is attached for approval.
RECOMMENDATION:
recommendation
Based upon the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve a budget amendment in the amount of $602,667.00 for the City’s portion of a Phase I Engineering Study for US Route 6 (Houbolt Road - I-55).
