Amendment No. 1 for the Professional Services Agreement for the 2024 Water Main and Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program Construction Engineering Services to Burns & McDonnell Inc. in the Amount of $665,934.26
end
BACKGROUND:
On January 16, 2024, the Mayor and City Council approved a Professional Services Agreement with Burns & McDonnell Inc., in the amount of $3,818,465.98, for construction engineering services for the 2024 Water Main and Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program. During the 2024 construction season, the contractors on many of the projects worked overtime during the weekdays and on the weekends. In addition, four of the construction contracts were extended into 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances such as unknown utility conflicts, additional rock excavation, and delays from permitting agencies. The four projects that were not completed in 2024 and are carrying over into 2025 are Spring Creek, Plainfield Road, Broadway/Center/Western and Varnado Park. These projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of April 2025. Both the overtime worked by the contractors and the contract extensions have resulted in the need for additional hours for construction engineering services.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Burns & McDonnell Inc. has submitted an amendment to the original engineering services agreement in the amount of $665,934.26 for approximately 1,330 overtime hours worked in 2024 and to provide construction engineering services for the four 2024 projects that are carrying over into 2025. All overtime hours are billed at standard hourly rates without any premiums added.
Funds will be charged to the Water Main Replacement Fund / Professional Services (Org 53880000, Object 557200, $665,934.26).
