Purchase of Two (2) Ford Explorers from Ron Tirapelli Ford, Inc. in the Amount of $82,898.00

BACKGROUND:
The purchase of two (2) replacement administrative vehicles for the Police Department was included as part of the approved 2025 budget. The Ford Explorer has become the vehicle of choice for this Department and was again chosen for standardization of operation, repair, and materials within the existing City fleet. These vehicles are not available for immediate purchase and will need to be ordered with an expected delivery date of summer 2025.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Pricing was requested from nine (9) area Ford dealers. Six (6) dealers provided quotes. Results are shown below:
• $82,898.00 - Ron Tirapelli Ford ($41,449.00 per vehicle)
• $83,462.00 - Morrow Brothers Ford ($41,731.00 per vehicle, did not meet specifications)
• $84,776.40 - D’Orazio Ford ($42,388.20 per vehicle)
• $86,015.40 - Rod Baker Ford ($43,007.70 per vehicle)
• $86,545.56 - Michigan City Ford ($43,272.78 per vehicle)
• $89,202.00 - Sutton Ford ($44,601.00 per vehicle)
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances states that purchases over $25,000.00 may be awarded without written specifications or bidding under certain circumstances. One of these circumstances applies:
(f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the Mayor and City Council
Sufficient funds will be available for this purchase request in the 2025 Vehicle Replacement Fund (Org 30160020, Obj 557500 $82,898.00).

Based on the above it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the purchase of two (2) Ford Explorers from Ron Tirapelli Ford, Inc. in the amount of $82,898.00.
