Purchase of a Ford Transit KUV from Ron Tirapelli Ford, Inc. in the Amount of $71,861.00

BACKGROUND:
The Fleet Services Division utilizes specific vehicles for emergency call outs and repairs on Joliet Fire Department equipment. One of these units has exceeded its useful life and is in need of replacement. A Transit 350 KUV has been selected as the replacement vehicle that best meets the required needs. Although this vehicle has been difficult to obtain due to ongoing supply chain issues, a unit has been located that is available for immediate purchase.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Pricing was requested from nine area Ford dealers. Four dealers provided quotes. Results are shown below:
• $71,861.00 - Ron Tirapelli Ford (In stock and available)
• $76,959.70 - Rod Baker Ford (Special order)
• D’Orazio Ford - Submitted quote that did not meet minimum specifications
• Michigan City Ford - Submitted quotes that do not meet minimum specifications
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances states that purchases over $25,000.00 may be awarded without written specifications or bidding under certain circumstances. One (1) of these circumstances applies:
(f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the Mayor and City Council.
Sufficient funding exists in the 2025 Vehicle Replacement Fund for this purchase (Org 30170020, Obj 557500, $71,861.00).

Based upon the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the purchase of a Ford Transit KUV from Ron Tirapelli Ford, Inc. in the amount of $71,861.00.
