Approval of Change Order No. 1 for the Well 24D Rehabilitation Project to Water Well Solutions in the Amount of $36,224.24
end
BACKGROUND:
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the Mayor and City Council awarded a contract to Water Well Solutions in the amount of $211,949.00 for the rehabilitation of Well 24D. The scope of the project included removal, evaluation and reinstallation of the pump.
Water Well Solutions completed the removal of the pumping equipment and took it to their shop for evaluation. Upon disassembly of the pump it was determined that the pump was able to be rebuilt for reuse. Additional work was also identified and completed which included: lowering the pump 100 feet to allow for more coverage over the pump during operation, additional cable, additional transducer carrier pipe, and additional replacement pump components.
Also included with this change order is the abandonment of the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District (SEJSD) well. Therefore, the City requested permission from the IEPA to abandon the well to avoid violations for not repairing the well. Since Water Well Solutions worked on the well in the past and had detailed records about the well, Staff requested Water Well Solutions to seal the well on a time and material basis to satisfy IEPA’s requirement of abandoning the well.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
The cost for Water Well Solutions to complete the Well 24D pump rebuild and other related work was $16,224.24, and the cost...
