Approval of Change Order No. 1 for the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District Meter Replacement Program Contract to Calumet City Plumbing Co., Inc. in the Amount of $145,614.32

BACKGROUND:
On January 20, 2026, the Mayor and City Council awarded a contract for the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District (SEJSD) Water Meter Replacement Program, in the amount of $1,027,250.00, on behalf of Calumet City Plumbing Co., Inc. The scope of the project was to replace all the water meters in SEJSD.
When this project was designed, staff had limited information on the inventory of the water meter network in the SEJSD area, and the bid quantities included in the contract were based on the information available. During construction of the project, staff have been able to update the inventory and has determined the scope of additional work required to complete the project. Change Order No. 1, in the amount of $145,614.32, is presented to cover the cost of additional quantities of pay items required to complete the water meter replacement project.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Change Order No. 1, in the amount of $145,614.32, is presented to cover the cost of additional quantities of pay items required to complete the water meter replacement project. The additional work required includes meter purchases and installation, expansion tank installations, AMR programming, and location specific plumbing.
Sufficient funds are available for this project in the PU Grant / Reimbursable Projects Fund / SEJSD / Infrastructure (Org 50180170, Object 557200, Project Code 25048, $145,614.32). These additional costs will be reimbursed to the City using Will County ARPA funds.
