Award of Contract to CDWG in the Amount of $130,840.86 to Replace End-of-Life Switch Stacks at the Joliet Police Main Station
end
BACKGROUND:
The Joliet Police Department’s Main Station relies on a core switch stack and an associated access layer switch stack to support all network connectivity within the facility, including critical public safety systems. The existing switch hardware installed in the Police Department’s records closet has reached end-of-life, meaning the manufacturer no longer provides support, security patches, firmware updates, or replacement components. Operating unsupported network infrastructure introduces operational risk, increases the likelihood of equipment failure, and may compromise system security and reliability. Replacing the switch stacks is necessary to ensure continued functionality, maintain secure and compliant network operations, and support the Police Department’s ongoing technology demands.
CONCLUSION:
The CDWG quote includes the purchase of new Cisco switch hardware for both the core and access layers, required network modules, power supplies, stacking and power cables, and associated software licenses and support subscriptions. The proposed package ensures that the new equipment is fully supported and configured to meet the Police Department’s operational requirements. This will allow the City to proactively replace critical network equipment and maintain a stable and secure technology environment for public safety operations.
To ensure competitive pricing, the quote was prepared utilizing the Sourcewell State of IL Contract 25-448DOIT-TELEC-P-80070 (25-448DOIT-TELEC-P-80070) and the Sourcewell 121923-CDWG Tech Catalog GOV ONLY(121923) contract.
