BACKGROUND:
The Joliet Fire Department Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Team has received a grant award of $2,511.80 through the 2026 TRANSCAER Hazmat Team Response Fund. These funds will be used to purchase equipment that was initially scheduled for purchase through ESTB funding.
The TRANSCAER Hazmat Team Response Fund grant will allow the department to replace outdated gear and ensure the HazMat team has reliable tools needed to operate during hazardous materials incidents. The team supports both local emergencies and mutual aid and maintaining updated equipment is essential for protecting the Joliet community.
CONCLUSION:
Acceptance of the TRANSCAER Hazmat Team Response Fund grant will help ensure the Joliet Fire Department Hazmat Team remain prepared and operate safely.
