end
BACKGROUND:
The Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant utilizes six primary clarifiers that settle the solids in the raw sewage. Last year City staff performed routine inspections of the tanks and discovered multiple gears, bearing, and drive chains were reaching the end of their useful life. The authorized dealer, Evoqua Water Technologies LLC / Envirex Products was contacted to prepare a quote for chain, gears, drive hubs, and bearings for the No. 2 primary tank. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Evoqua Water Technologies LLC submitted a quote, in the amount of $69,033.36, for the replacement parts. The parts are in stock, and replacement will be completed by City staff. The parts must be replaced to ensure proper operation of the primary tanks.
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances states that purchases whose estimated cost is in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) may be awarded without written specifications or bidding under certain circumstances. Two (2) of these circumstances apply:
(a) Purchases which may only be practicably made from a single source;
(f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the Mayor and City Council.
Sufficient funds exist utilizing the Water & Sewer Improvement Fund / Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant (Org 50180802, Object 557200, $69,033.36).
