SUBJECT:
title
Resolution Authorizing Execution of an Intergovernmental Agreement Between the City of Joliet and the Joliet Park District (Taste of Joliet)
end
BACKGROUND:
On June 20, 21, and 22, 2025, the Joliet Park District will hold the annual Taste of Joliet. The City has traditionally supported this event through in-kind services, including, but not limited to provision of Police and Fire services as well as waiving special events permit and inspection fees.
The Joliet Police and Fire Departments have provided public safety services during the Taste of Joliet since its inception. Both public safety departments will bill the event; the City of Joliet will absorb the cost up to $85,000.00. Any extra duty-related services exceeding $85,000.00 will be billed to the Joliet Park District. In exchange for this service, the Joliet Park District agrees to name the City of Joliet as an event sponsor and receive the customary benefits, which include displaying the City of Joliet’s logo on the following:
• Signage at the event.
• Volunteer t-shirts.
• Taste of Joliet website.
• Joliet Park District website.
• Jumbotron at the event.
• Marketing materials (to include flyers, Herald News advertisement, etc.).
• “Thank you” ad in the Joliet Park District program catalog.
CONCLUSION:
To help ensure a safe and successful event for all, it is recommended that the City of Joliet enter into a formal agreement with the Joliet Park District to provide public safety services through the Joliet Police and Fire Departments.
