BACKGROUND:
The City has continued progress on the Joliet City Square development, including the planned installation of the A/V background music system. As part of the required procurement process, the project scope was issued for public bid under Contract 2981-0526. The bid opportunity was advertised in accordance with City policies, and submissions were accepted through the formal bidding window. Following the closure of that process, one responsive proposal was received that met the specifications for the scope of the project.
This phase supports the broader City Square development by installing the initial audio, surveillance, and related infrastructure needed to operate the background music system and to accommodate future expansions of the City's audiovisual systems.
CONCLUSION:
The submitted proposal meets the defined project requirements and this phase supports the broader City Square development by installing the initial audio, surveillance, and related infrastructure needed to operate the background music system and to accommodate future expansions of the City's audiovisual systems.
This item was recommended for City Council approval by the Communication, Technology and Information Systems Committee at the May 6, 2026 meeting.
Funding for the project will be provided first through the $225,000.00 in grant funds awarded to the City by Heritage Corridor. The remaining $329,742.00 of the project cost will be covered by the original $350,000.00 in capital funds budgeted for this initiative, leaving an unused balance of $20,258.00 in capital funds available for other initiatives and keeping the project under budget.
