SUBJECT:

title

Resolution Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with the County of Will for the Placement of License Plate Reading Cameras Located on County Highways

end

BACKGROUND:

The Joliet Police Department has determined the use of license plate reading cameras (LPR’s) is of value for criminal investigations.  Cameras have been placed at various strategic locations throughout the City of Joliet for years.  Two of the locations are Caton Farm Road, just east of Essington Road, and south of Route 6.

CONCLUSION:

Caton Farm Road east of Essington Road and south of Route 6 are  County Highways under the jurisdiction of the Will County Department of Transportation.  To keep an LPR’s at these locations, Will County requires that the City of Joliet resign the intergovernmental agreement regarding maintenance, and use of the camera.

RECOMMENDATION:

recommendation

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council adopt the attached Resolution approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with the County of Will for Continued License Place Reading Cameras Located on County Highways.
