Change Order No. 2 for the Joliet Ottawa Water Main Improvements Project to Trine Construction Corp in the amount of $117,267.41

BACKGROUND:
On January 17, 2023, the Mayor and City Council awarded a Contract for the Joliet Ottawa Water Main Improvements Project, in the amount of $6,095,346.00, on behalf of Trine Construction Corp., based on the Unit Prices provided in their bid. Subsequently, Change Order No. 1 was approved for a zero-sum value to provide a project time extension. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Change Order No. 2, a net addition in the amount of $117,267.41 is for the following work:
• Additional 8” storm sewer removal and replacement
• Additional temporary hot mix asphalt pavement
• Additional dust control
• Removal of an unknown abandoned 12” steel gas main
• Additional work to safely install new watermain under unknown electric duct bank
• Additional work to provide a temporary repair to an existing vaulted sidewalk
• Remove and replace deteriorated storm sewer to safely install new water main
• Repair existing street light conduits found to be buried within the HMA pavement
Sufficient funds are available for this project in the Water Main Replacement Fund (Org 53880000, Object 557200, $117,267.41).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve Change Order No. 2 to the contract for the Joliet Ottawa Water Main Improvements Project, in the amount of $117,267.41, on behalf of Trine Construction Corp.
