Resolution Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for the I-80 at IL Route 7 (Larkin Avenue) Interchange Improvement Project

BACKGROUND:
As part of the ongoing I-80 improvements, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) plans to reconstruct the interchange at I-80 and IL Route 7 (Larkin Avenue). IDOT has submitted an agreement for State Contract Number 62R25. This agreement addresses the City’s financial responsibilities related to the Emergency Vehicle Preemption (EVP) equipment for the two proposed traffic signals at the interchange. It is standard practice that the local municipalities are responsible for the costs associated with EVP equipment. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Attached is a Resolution approving an Agreement with the State of Illinois, Department of Transportation for the I-80 at Larkin Avenue Interchange Improvement Project. Based on the cost participation breakdown for the project, the City’s share totals an estimated amount of $14,490.00. The total project cost is estimated at $23,474,490.00.
Funds for the City of Joliet’s share will be charged to the PW Electrical / Supplies - Equip Parts (Org 09028000, Object 536104, $14,490.00).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council adopt the attached Resolution approving an Agreement with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation for the I-80 at Larkin Avenue Interchange Improvement Project.
