Award of Contract for the 10D Booster Pump No. 3 Emergency Repairs to Great Lakes Water Resources Group in the Amount of $39,836.00

BACKGROUND:
The 10D Booster Station utilizes three (3) high service booster pumps to provide water to customers in the Essington Road corridor. In early April 2025, booster pump 3 failed. The pump was originally installed in 2005.
Great Lakes Water Resources Group was in the City working on another project. They were contacted to remove the failed booster pump for inspection on an emergency basis. After inspecting the pump, it was determined the pump could be rebuilt. However, the column pipe couplings and shafts needed to be replaced. The work has been completed, and the pump is back in service.
The Public Service Committee will review.
CONCLUSION:
Great Lakes Water Resources Group submitted a price in the amount of $39,836.00 to perform the labor and provide the required materials to repair the pump and put the pump back into service.
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances states that purchases whose estimated cost is in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) may be awarded without written specifications or bidding under certain circumstances. Two (2) of these circumstances apply:
(e) Purchases where an emergency immediately affects the public health, safety or welfare, if authorized by the City Manager or his designee;
(f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the Mayor and City Council;
Funds will be charged to the Water and Sewer Improvement Fund / Water Supply / Construction (Org 50180011, Object 557200, $39,836.00, Project Code 25032).
