BACKGROUND:

The Joliet Fire Department received a legislative pass-through to fund the Joliet Community Mental Health Program in the State of Illinois fiscal year 2025 budget in the amount of $1,900,000.00. The legislative pass-through will be managed as a reimbursement grant. The grant will provide cost-free mental health care for all City of Joliet and Will County residents. The funding is expected to be available in March 2025.

 

This item was reviewed at the Public Safety Committee Meeting held on March 4, 2025, and recommended to the full Council for approval.

 

CONCLUSION:

The State of Illinois' fiscal year 2025 budget included $1,900,000.00 to fund the Community Mental Health Program for all Joliet and Will County residents. Mental health provider services will be paid from the Mis. Expense Fund (Org 07001000, Object 548000) and then reimbursed from the state monthly.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Based on the above, it is recommended the Mayor and City Council accept the legislative pass-through from the State of Illinois in the amount of $1,900,000.00.
