BACKGROUND:
Manganese Sulfate Solution is used in the production of Hydrous Manganese Oxide, a key component in the radium removal process, at the City’s water treatment facilities. The chemicals must meet the requirements of NSF Standard 60 - Drinking Water Treatment Chemicals. An advertisement for bids for the 2024 Manganese Sulfate Solution purchase was published in the Labor Record on Thursday, September 28, 2023. The Public Service Committee reviewed this memo at the November 6, 2023 meeting and recommended for approval by full Council.
CONCLUSION:
Bids for the 2024 Manganese Sulfate Solution purchase were opened at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Three (3) bids were received for the Contract and read out loud. The bid summary is as follows:

In addition to year 2024, the City requested bidders submit pricing for a one-year optional extension to be evaluated at the end of 2024.
Funds will be charged to the 2024 Water / Sewer Operating Fund / Water Production-Chemicals (Org 50080011, Object 536108, $246,330.00).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council authorize the award for the 2024 Manganese Sulfate Solution Purchase, in the amount of $6.90 per gallon of solution, not to exceed $246,330.00, on behalf of Hawkins Inc.
