end

BACKGROUND:

UCP Center for Disability Services (UCP) has been recommended for Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $45,000.00 for their Energy Efficiency Program. This activity will be used for capital improvements to their location at 311 S Reed Street. Joliet, Illinois 60436, to install updated lighting, replacing the existing outdated electrical system.

UCP proposes to utilize the funding of this grant to improve client safety, accommodate sensory sensitivities, reduce carbon footprint, and promote a more suitable environment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founded over 70 years ago, this will be UCP’s third year of administering City-funded CDBG activities.

This program supports CDBG identified Goals and demonstrates consistency to the City of Joliet 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan.

The attached Resolution authorizes CDBG funding and authorizes the City Manager to execute the CDBG Agreement on behalf of the City of Joliet.

The Diversity and Community Relations Committee will review this item.

CONCLUSION:

This activity titled “Energy Efficiency Program” will sustain or improve access to services for an estimated 100 people/households within the City of Joliet.

Funds will be charged to the Community Development Block Grant Fund: Org 21020250, Object 523300, $45,000.00
