BACKGROUND:
The proposed ordinance amends Chapters 28 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances, specifically addressing the submittal of municipal use taxes.
The ordinance establishes the need for businesses to submit supporting documentation for the periods in which they are responsible for filing municipal taxes. The supporting documentation must be in the form of an Illinois Department of Revenue tax return or internal records if no Illinois Department of Revenue return exists. The proposed ordinance would become effective January 1, 2027.
