Approval of Change Order No. 1 for the Eastside WWTP MCC Replacement and Alternative Water Supply Project JOL0801 - SCADA Project to M J Electric LLC in the Amount of $108,433.02

BACKGROUND:

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the Mayor and City Council awarded a contract to M J Electric LLC, in the amount of $4,480,000.00, for the Eastside WWTP MCC Replacement and Alternative Water Supply Project JOL0801 - SCADA Project.

 

The Public Service Committee will review this matter.

 

CONCLUSION:

During completion of the work for the Eastside WWTP MCC Replacement project the following deviations from the plans were discovered: 1) one of the major junction boxes in the Blower Building basement was found to be corroded beyond reuse, 2) the MCC D needed to be relocated to accommodate hidden conduits not seen during design, 3) additional surface mounted disconnects were installed on the blower building heaters to maintain uniformity and safety compliance, 4) the HVAC and door replacement allowances needed to be adjusted to cover the actual costs of the needed upgrades.  In addition to these work items a path study was completed to evaluate moving the master SCADA panel to the Eastside WWTP, and the completion date of milestone one was adjusted from December 7, 2024, to February 10, 2025 to allow for the time needed to submit the required documents.

 

Funds will be charged to the Water and Sewer Improvement Fund / Eastside WWTP / Construction (Org 50180802, Object 557200, $108,433.02).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve Change Order No. 1, a net increase in the amount of $108,433.02, for the Eastside WWTP MCC Replacement and Alternative Water Supply Project JOL0801 - SCADA Project to M J Electric LLC.
