SUBJECT:

title

Ordinance Amending the 2026 Annual Budget for the City of Joliet

end

BACKGROUND:

The Parkhill Special Service Area (SSA) was established in April 2009 to provide funding for the ongoing maintenance of the Parkhill detention pond and associated grass area. The City administers the SSA to support these maintenance activities and ensure the continued upkeep and proper maintenance of the detention pond and surrounding areas.

The proposed amendment would modify the existing SSA budget to address the ongoing maintenance needs of the Parkhill detention pond.

CONCLUSION:

It is recommended the City Council approve the amendment of budget in the amount of $29,000. The funds collected through the Parkhill Special Service Area (SSA) will be used to support ongoing maintenance and improvements to the Parkhill detention pond and surrounding area.

Planned improvements include the removal of dead trees, planting of new trees, the purchase and installation of custom park benches, and the placement of large stone around the detention pond inlets and outlets to help prevent erosion. These improvements will enhance the appearance of the area, support the long-term maintenance of the detention pond, and improve the overall condition and usability of the surrounding space for residents.

RECOMMENDATION:

recommendation
