BACKGROUND:
Joliet Police Officers often find themselves in traumatic situations where immediate medical intervention can mean the difference between life and death. Training officers to effectively control active bleeding and treat critical wounds is invaluable, as police are frequently the first on the scene before emergency medical personnel arrive.
To ensure preparedness, the Police Department conducts multiple "Stop the Bleed" training sessions each year for new officers. This is also a key component of active shooter response training which involves all members of the Police Department. Once there is no longer a threat, officers must be equipped to provide life-saving care alongside the Fire Department in mass casualty/critical incidents.
The Tactical Combat Casualty Care Training Simulator (TCCCMan) will significantly enhance the medical training and response capabilities of officers. TCCCMan is a state-of-the-art, hyper realistic trauma simulation system that allows instructors to create a variety of realistic casualty scenarios. Its responsive patient features make it an ideal tool for classroom instruction, trauma lane exercises, and field training simulations.
