Approval of Change Order No. 1 for the Glenwood and West Acres Water Main Improvements Project to Austin Tyler Construction Inc. in the Amount of $218,240.10

BACKGROUND:
On February 3, 2026, the Mayor and City Council awarded a Contract for the Glenwood and West Acres Water Main Improvements Project in the amount of $6,577,723.51 on behalf of Austin Tyler Construction Inc. based on the Unit Prices provided in their bid. On June 16, 2026, the Mayor and City Council approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Joliet Township High School District 204 for a water extension and connection at Joliet West High School.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
Change Order No. 1 is for cost adjustments to install a service line and meter vault at Joliet West High School from the Glenwood Avenue side of the property. The following is a description of the work included within this change order:
• Additional trench backfill
• Additional 8” water main installation
• Additional fire hydrant installation
• Additional restoration
• Installation of meter vault
Funds will be charged to the Water Main Replacement Fund (Org 53880000, Object 557200, $218,240.10). Per the terms of the IGA with JTHS District 204, the District will reimburse the City $48,511.77 for the private portion of the service line work.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve Change Order No. 1 for the Glenwood and West Acres Water Main Improvements Project, in the amount of $218,240.10, to Austin Tyler Construction Inc.
