Award of Business Continuity Grant for the Total Amount of $63,733.50 to Cut 158, Inc.

BACKGROUND:
On December 17, 2024, the City Council approved Resolution 8095. This resolution established the Chicago Street Business Continuity Grant program. This program provides financial assistance to businesses on Chicago Street that have been directly impacted by the public construction project that began in May 2024. The applicants are eligible for assistance of up to 50% of their lost tax-generating sales with a cap of $100,000 per year.
To date for FY 2025, the City has awarded $36,551 in assistance to four businesses.
The program’s guidelines provide that:
• The City Manager has authority to approve up to $25,000; and,
• The City Manger has the authority to fund the first $25,000 of any grant greater than $25,000; and,
• Any grant amount over $25,000 must be approved by the City Council.
The City has received four grant applications eligible for less than $25,000, which have been approved by the City Manager.
In addition to the four applications for less than $25,000, the City received one application for an award greater than $25,000.

The Land Use & Economic Development Committee met on November 19, 2025, and recommended approval by the Mayor and City Council.
CONCLUSION:
The City has received a total of five eligible Business Continuity Grant applications. One of the applications for a Business Continuity Grant is eligible for a total grant amount of $63,733.50 which requires City Council approval.
Funds will be expended from 02001000-548300.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council award a Business Continuity Grant for the Total Amount of $63,733.50 to Cut 158, Inc.
