BACKGROUND:
Since 2022, the City has partnered with the Center for Internet Security (CIS) to provide CrowdStrike's advanced cybersecurity solutions. This collaboration has allowed the City to enhance its endpoint protection with CrowdStrike's industry-leading Falcon platform, offering real-time threat detection, prevention, and response. As part of this partnership, the City has benefited from continuous cybersecurity monitoring, ensuring proactive protection of critical systems and data.
CONCLUSION:
The current endpoint security solution will expire in March 2026 and requires renewal to maintain ongoing coverage and support. The renewal includes CIS MDR Advanced powered by CrowdStrike, delivering full Managed Detection & Response with 24/7 SOC monitoring, threat hunting, and automated response, along with CIS MDR Spotlight for continuous vulnerability scanning and proactive identification of security gaps. Together, these services provide comprehensive protection against evolving cyber threats. This renewal ensures uninterrupted coverage and continues the City's commitment to a strong cybersecurity posture.
Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances states that purchases whose estimated cost is in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) may be awarded without written specifications or bidding under certain circumstances. Three of these circumstances apply:
(b) Purchases for additions to and repairs and maintenance of equipment owned by the City which may be more efficiently added to, repaired or maintained by a certain person;
(f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds of the Mayor and City Council;
(g) Purchases of professional services.
