BACKGROUND:
The City of Joliet Fire Department has a Five-Year Plan to purchase new ambulances. However, the wait times to receive the new ambulances is over two years. The Troy Fire Protection District has a used 2008 International Medtec Ambulance for sale in the amount of $30,000.00. The Fire Department would like to purchase this ambulance to stabilize the reserve ambulance fleet which will allow the Fire Department to catch up with the current ambulance replacement plan. This Medtec ambulance is in great shape and will be used to replace one of the older reserve ambulances. Funds will be available for this purchase through a Public Safety Grant the City received. This item was reviewed at the Public Safety Committee Meeting held on May 7, 2024, and recommended to the full Council for approval.

CONCLUSION:
Troy Fire Protection District has agreed to sell the City of Joliet Fire Department this 2008 International Medtec Ambulance in the amount of $30,000.00.
This unit will fill the City's need at an appropriate pricing level. A second unit will need to be ordered at a future date.
