end

BACKGROUND:
On December 5, 2023, the Mayor and City Council awarded a Contract for the 2023 Underground Storage Tank Removal and Replacement Project, in the amount of $1,519,925.00 on behalf of Petroleum Technologies Equipment Inc. This project includes the removal and replacement of the underground fuel tanks at the Cass Street and the Cedarwood Drive refueling stations. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.

CONCLUSION:
Change Order No. 1, a net increase in the amount of $385,466.65, is the result of the following:

Cass Street Tanks - $255,591.65

1) Hauling and Disposal of Contaminated Soil
* 824 CY @ $115/CY = $94,760.00

2) Hauling and Disposal of Contaminated Liquid
* 87,100 GAL @ $1.50/GAL = $130,650.00

3) Providing and placing clean fill
* 200 CY @ $60/CY = $12,000.00

4) Environmental Testing and Reporting $18,181.65

Cedarwood Drive Tanks - $129,875.00

1) Hauling and Disposal of Contaminated Soil
* 615 CY @ $115/CY = $70,725.00

2) Hauling and Disposal of Contaminated Liquid
* 20,700 GAL @ $1.50/GAL = $31,050.00

3) Providing and placing clean fill
* 135 CY @ $60/CY = $8,100.00

4) Environmental Testing and Reporting $20,000.00

Unit prices for the above items were included in the contract. The City was aware that the final quantities would be dependent upon actual conditions encountered during construction.

The IEPA will be reimbursing the City of Joliet approximately $140,000.00 for this work. These funds will be provided from the Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) fund and are expected to be received within 6 months of project completion.

Sufficient funding exists for this change order in the Public Works Capital Improvement Fund (Org 30090270, Object 557200, $385,466.65)....
