Resolution Accepting the Grant of a Public Utility Easement from Will County for Fiber Conduit Installation North of Washington Street from (Chicago Street - Scott Street)

BACKGROUND:
The City has requested a public utility easement from Will County for the installation and maintenance of multi-duct fiberoptic conduit located north of the right-of-way of Washington Street between Chicago Street and Scott Street. The County has agreed to provide this easement.
This conduit will tie into the existing IT fiber cabinet located at the County parking lot just west of Union Station. This conduit will complete a connection between the Gateway Transportation Center and City Hall and allow direct communication and camera feeds between facilities. The easement allows most of the conduit run to be placed outside of the State right-of-way and avoids conflicts with other existing utilities. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
The attached documentation grants the public utility easement. It is in the best interest of the City to accept the easement.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council adopt the attached Resolution accepting the grant of a public utility easement for installation of fiberoptic conduit installation from Will County.
