Change Order No. 1 for the City of Joliet Landscape Maintenance Contract - East with Beary Landscape Management in the amount of $20,000.00

BACKGROUND:
The City of Joliet Budget allocates funds for the City of Joliet Landscape Maintenance Contract each fiscal year. Beginning in 2021, this annual contract was separated into two (2) separate contracts, one for the east side of the City and one for the west side of the City. These contracts are awarded as one-year contracts with the option to renew each year up to four years. A contract for this project was awarded on March 16, 2021. The Public Service Committee reviewed this memo at the November 6, 2023 meeting and recommended for approval by full Council.
CONCLUSION:
In order to better maintain the downtown area, a proposal in the amount of $20,000.00 ($5,600.00 for the remainder of 2023 and $14,400.00 for 2024) to complete additional work was received from Beary Landscape Management. Additional work includes:
Downtown Weed Control
Additional Mowing
Ottawa Street Parking Deck - mow weekly
Barrett’s Parking Lot - Weed lot and landscape beds twice/month
Mayor Art Schultz Drive Parking Lot - Weed landscape beds twice/month
Railroad wall along Washington Street (York-Eastern) - Mow twice/month
Former Lyons Lumber Yard Property - Mow once/month
Rialto Parking Lot (Van Buren Plaza) - Weed landscape beds twice/month
Sufficient funds exist in the Public Works Roadways Contractual Services Fund (Org 09029000, Object 524200, $20,000.00).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve Change Order No.1 for the City of Joliet Landscape Maintenance Contract - East, in the amount of $20,000.00, to Beary Landscape Management.
