Resolution Authorizing CDBG Funding and Subrecipient Agreement with Spanish Community Center, NFP as a Program Year 2025 CDBG Activity in an Amount not to Exceed $28,384.00
end

BACKGROUND:
Spanish Community Center (SCC) has been recommended for Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $28,384.00 for their Security & Facility Improvement Project. This activity will be used for capital improvements to their location at 309 N Eastern Avenue. Joliet, Illinois 60432, to expand security efforts and continue existing services provided to their clients.

SCC proposes to utilize the funding of this grant to construct and install recreational activity and youth development equipment, improve the outdoor region of the property, replace/repair the current boiler system, and install a card entry custom security system. These updates to the facility will create sustainability of their operations and public services. Founded over 50 years ago, this will be SCC's fifth year of administering city-funded CDBG activities.

This project supports CDBG identified Goals, and demonstrates consistency to the City of Joliet 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan.

The attached Resolution authorizes CDBG funding and authorizes the City Manager to execute the CDBG Agreement on behalf of the City of Joliet.

The Diversity and Community Relations Committee will review this item.

CONCLUSION:
This activity titled "Security & Facility Improvement Project" will sustain or improve access to services for an estimated 680 people/households within City of Joliet.

Funds will be charged to the Community Development Block Grant Fund: Org 21020250, Object 523300, $28,384.00
