Resolution Accepting a General Operating Support Grant from the Illinois Arts Council for the 2027 Grant Fiscal Year

BACKGROUND:
The Illinois Arts Council (IAC) has awarded the City of Joliet a grant of $2,500.00 for a General Operating Support Grant for the 2026 Grant fiscal year. IAC General Operating Support Grants intend to provide local arts agencies, such as the City of Joliet Arts Commission, with funds to cover a variety of expenses including but not limited to, advertising costs, program supplies, and Commission projects and events. The grant does not require a match from the City.
Section 2-313.13 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Joliet, as amended on December 17, 2019, describes the Roles and Responsibilities of the Arts Commission. Within subsection (5), the Code states that the Commission is charged with identifying and applying for grants for programming and initiatives to support art-based organizations and recommend that the City Council regrant any grants funds received by the Commission. All IAC grant expenditures must be made by August 31, 2027, and all reporting on the subject Grant must be completed by September 30, 2027.
