Resolution Requesting the Partial Closure of Routes 6 and 30 for the 2026 Joliet Central Homecoming Parade Route

BACKGROUND:

The Joliet Central High School is hosting the 2026 Homecoming Parade on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in downtown Joliet. The event will include a parade that requires the partial closure of Routes 6 and 30.

 

The Illinois Highway Code authorizes the Illinois Department of Transportation to issue permits to local authorities to temporarily close portions of State Highways for public purposes such as parades and local celebrations.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve a Resolution Requesting the Partial Closure of Routes 6 and 30 for the 2026 Joliet Central Homecoming Parade Route
