Award of Contract for the 2024 Sidewalk / Curb Replacement Project - East Joliet to Davis Concrete Construction Co. in the amount of $294,186.00

BACKGROUND:
The 2024 budget allocates funds for Sidewalk / Curb Replacement Program. The limits of the East Joliet sidewalk and curb replacement project are between Raynor Avenue and the east City limits. This contract will replace public sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway aprons per the City’s 50/50 property owner participation policy. The project will also replace public sidewalk damaged by parkway trees and ADA ramps at pedestrian corner crosswalks at 100% City cost.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
On Friday, August 2, 2024, at 10:00 A.M., four (4) sealed bids were received for the 2024 Sidewalk / Curb Replacement Project - East Joliet. The bid summary is as follows:
The low bid from Davis Concrete Construction Co. in the amount of $294,186.00 is 8.10% below the Engineer’s Estimate.
Sufficient funds exist utilizing the PW Engineering & Construction / Contractual Services (Org 09027000, Object 524200, $200,000.00), the Public Works Capital Improvement Fund / Infrastructure (Org 30090270, Object 557200, $71,275.00) and General Fund PW / Repairs & Maintenance Fund (Org 10090000, Object 524300, $22,911.00).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council Award the Contract for the 2024 Sidewalk / Curb Replacement Project - East Joliet, in the amount of $294,186.00, on behalf of Davis Concrete Construction Co.
