Resolution Authorizing the Execution of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Joliet Police Department and the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)

BACKGROUND:

The United States Department of Justice, DEA-Chicago Field Division wishes to enter into an agreement with the Joliet Police Department for the purpose of investigating the use and abuse of controlled substances in the Chicagoland High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).  The agreement outlines the procedures the task force will perform, and that the Joliet Police Department has an officer working with the DEA for a period of not less than two years.  The agreement also outlines any overtime reimbursement whether the group is DEA Program Funded, Fee Funded (SPEAR), or HIDTA Funded.

 

CONCLUSION:

The Joliet Police Department and the City of Joliet will greatly benefit from the MOU by utilizing the resources of the DEA, to ensure the safety of the citizens of Joliet.
